This is the first initiative of CircularTec's new Ecodesign and Ecoinnovation Laboratory, which will be a fundamental part of the center's development strategy. The program is aimed at national academics to strengthen their competencies in research, innovation and training in ecodesign matters.

With a duration of two months online and a two-day in-person workshop, this training of trainers program will be led by international experts, thanks to a strategic alliance with the Spanish company Inèdit, and is the first of an agenda of activities for 2024-2025.

"CircularTec is committed to promoting the circular economy and to this end, the topics of eco-design and eco-innovation are key. We need to strengthen our capacities as a country in these areas and we are committed with this program to promote a deep work with higher education institutions in our country, as they play a key role in training, research and innovation. It is clear to us that we will not be able to be more sustainable and apply the circular economy model well if we do not advance in eco-design and eco-innovation of products and services," explained CircularTec's executive director, Andreé Henríquez.

The program is part of the collaboration agreement with Inèdit, a strategic eco-innovation studio born from the pioneers of industrial ecology, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and eco-design at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. With more than fifteen years of experience accompanying organizations in more than one hundred projects per year in circular economy. It is a technical advisory body in the Public Good: Tarapacá 2030 circular economy opportunities scanner led by CircularTec.

Regarding the operation of this program, Jordi Oliver Solà, executive director of Inèdit, commented that "the training program for trainers in eco-design and economy will address content related to circular economy, eco-innovation, eco-design of products and services, circular business models, among others, which will allow participants to generate solid and updated bases, to be applied to real business challenges in the on-site workshop".

The application process for the course will open on Monday, August 5, 2024 and the program will be held in October and November of this year. The program will have a maximum capacity of 25 people and academics from CircularTec's founding universities will have a preferential registration fee.
